BOISE, ID (KBOI) – BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Border patrol agents tracked eight individuals they say were trying to illegally cross the border into the U.S. just west of the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. One of them has been identified as 38-year-old Ivan Ibarra, who has an active warrant in Idaho for allegedly sexually assaulting a child in Nampa.
Border patrol agents verified the warrant with Nampa police and Ibarra is currently being held pending extradition.
Agents say they were able to catch the illegal crossers, despite what they say were attempts to conceal their efforts by attaching sponges to their feet.
Ibarra is a Mexican National who had previously been removed for illegally crossing into the United States, according to Homeland Security.
Including Ibarra, a total of eight suspects were taken into custody.
