MARYVILLE, TN – On Saturday, Mynor Leonel Jeronimo-Velasquez, 31, was handed over to Marysville police officers by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He fled the state in October.
Last month, officers responded to a welfare call for an 11-year-old girl. Upon meeting with the girl, officers asked her mother for her permission to take her to a local hospital, according to court documents.
After an examination, it was discovered that the fifth-grader was eight months pregnant.
An arrest warrant was issued for Jeronimo-Velasquez, and detectives began searching for the fugitive.
Police discovered Jeronimo-Velasquez had moved to Florida with a 9-year-old girl roughly six weeks before receiving the welfare call, saying the girl had been missing. The girl was handed over to child protective services, but police said they do not believe she was victimized.
On October 21, he was taken into custody by local law enforcement officers, along with U.S. Marshals.
Jeronimo-Velasquez has been charged with two counts of rape of a child less than 13 years of age. He is currently being held at the Blount County Adult Detention Facility on an ICE detainer.
The illegal alien is set to appear in Blount County General Sessions Court on November 12.
