STATESVILLE, NC – On Wednesday, Jose Rosendo Marquez, 50, was extradited to North Carolina, after having been arrested in Virginia two weeks earlier. He was wanted on multiple child sexual assault charges in Iredell County.
An investigation was opened in August after sheriff’s deputies received a report that a minor had been sexually assaulted.

Detective Sgt. Katie Harwell of the Special Victims Unit began an investigation which included an interview at the Dove House Child Advocacy Center. During the interview, Campbell said, the juvenile disclosed being sexually assaulted on multiple occasions and named Marquez as the person responsible.
Marquez has been charged with 19 counts of felony first-degree statutory sex offense, and is currently being held at the Iredell County Jail on an ICE hold.
