CHARLOTTE, NC – On March 29, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested Daniel Pereyra-Nandayapa, 37, after arriving at a house on Mont Carmel Lane, a day earlier, where they found 64-year-old Hector Cruz suffering from a stab wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Pereyra-Nandayapa has been charged with murder, and is currently being held without bond at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
It should be noted that Charlotte is a ‘sanctuary city,’ and that Mecklenburg County Sheriff Gary L. McFadden has refused to cooperate with federal immigration officials, and has made it a policy to refuse ICE detainers.
